KARACHI, Aug 29: Bangladesh Women, making their international T20 debut, beat Ireland Women by four wickets in the first match of the Ireland Tri-Nation Women’s T20 Series at Clontarf Cricket Club Ground in Dublin on Tuesday.
According to the information received here, winning the toss, Ireland chose to bat first. They made 92 runs for the loss of four wickets in their 20 overs. Opener Clare Shillington top-scored with 34 and captain Isobel Joyce made 18. Bangladesh’s Rumana Ahmed, Khadija Tul Kubra, Salma Khatun and Jahanara Alam picked up one wicket each.
In reply, Bangladesh reached njida Islam went for ducks but captain Salma Khatun saved the day with her 41 runs all of them made by taking singles as Lata Mondal conttheir target of 93 runs in 19.5 overs but with the loss of six wickets.
The team had its share of scares when both openers Shukhtara Rahman and Saributed scored 29. Ireland’s young player, 14-year-old Elena Tice, got three wickets.
