GUJAR KHAN, Aug 30: The traffic wardens fail to ensure uninterrupted traffic flow in Gujar Khan city, despite a number of complaints being lodged with the Punjab IG during his open katcheri on Wednesday.
According to a survey conducted by this reporter, snarls in Gujar Khan city was a common feature on Thursday.
Visiting Hayat Sar road at school let-off time was quite tormenting as at that moment the traffic at this spot move at snail’s pace.
The situation was not different at the service road at GT road chowk, which remains packed and there was no traffic warden to at least make his presence felt.
The railway road also gives the same picture where unregistered motor rickshaws are a nuisance for not only the pedestrians but other road users as well. The motor rickshaws after hitting someone make good their escape with least possibility of being identified or traced.
On Wednesday, the Punjab IG responding to a complaint informed the media that over 40 traffic wardens had been deployed in Gujar Khan and their inefficiency was un-understandable.
The residents have urged the Punjab chief minister to take notice of lack of interest and discipline on the part of traffic wardens and take appropriate action to improve the situation.
