KOHAT, Sept 4: Lawyers’ action committee here on Tuesday threatened to mobilise people and block all roads in the city if Peshawar Electric Supply Company did not stop unscheduled loadshedding immediately.
The committee president Samiullah advocate, secretary general Masoodur Rehman advocate and chairman Fawad advocate said that the Pesco officials and district coordination officer had backed out from their promise of carrying out scheduled loadshedding in Kohat city and its major towns.
In an application to DCO Zakir Hussain they lamented that 16-hour unscheduled loadshedding was being carried out in the city and other parts of the district, and it was time for him to take action and reduce duration of loadshedding.
They alleged that the Pesco staff was sending inflated bills to common consumers to hide their inefficiency and cover up for line losses and power theft.
TEACHING STAFF: Shortage of teachers at Mitha Khan government middle school for boys here for last three years has been affecting the education of students of the area.
People of the area have been repeatedly requesting the education department authorities for filling the vacant posts, but so far no action was taken. They are concerned about wastage of precious time of 117 students at the school.
Local elders said that one post of senior English teacher and two posts of classified teachers had been vacant since long.
They said that currently only three teachers were managing the school, which was a great injustice with them and the students.
They warned that if the posts were not filled they would block the Kohat-Hangu highway at Kacha Pakha in protest. They also decided to meet MPA Musarat Shafi and provincial education minister for solution of the problem.
PROTEST: The health employees’ association on Tuesday launched two-hour daily token strike to protest against alleged manhandling a senior doctor by police here.
They threatened that if FIR was not registered against the traffic police constable, who allegedly misbehaved with a senior doctor, they would boycott polio campaign starting from Sept 10.
Kohat Doctors Association’s president Dr Safdar and Paramedics Association’s president Rashid Bukhari during a meeting also demanded action against the constable.
