SWABI, Sept 22: Leaders of Awami Jamhoori Ittehad Pakistan (AJIP) said here on Saturday that Awami National Party would face a humiliating defeat in upcoming general elections in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa because of its bad governance.
The AJIP leaders, including its chairman Shahram Tarakai, made this claim while speaking at a meeting where several families of Yar Hussain locality resigned from ruling ANP and joined the AJIP.
Representatives of new entrants said that they had to end their four-decade long association with the ANP because of its failure to safeguard rights of Pakhtuns.
The AJIP was formed by a family of entrepreneurs of Swabi, led by Liaquat Tarakai. MNA Usman Tarakai and Javed Tarakai belong to the same family.
Mr Shahram said that ANP leaders had shattered expectations of people through their bad governance during last four and a half years. He claimed that the decision of several families to join their party was a turning point because they belonged to the region which was considered a stronghold of the ANP.
MNA Usman Tarakai, who had defeated Asfandyar Wali Khan, said that the rulers had failed to come up to expectations of people. He said that all ANP leaders had been claiming that Swabi was their second home after Charsadda, but they had ignored the district in development schemes.
