SUKKUR, Nov 22: Ghotki District Nazim Sardar Ali Gohar Khan Maher has said that neither 17 Dehs of the district nor the water of any canal is being given to Punjab.

Speaking at a press conference, Sardar Gohar said this was a rumour spread by some vested elements to gain political aims.

INJURED: Three persons were wounded when armed persons of the Maher tribe clashed with each other in Bachal Bhayo village in Sukkur district on Thursday.

Police sources said the attack was the result of an old dispute between the two groups.

The injured were: Sadam Hussain, Amanullah and Siddiq. Police arrested five persons.

In another incident, two groups of Phulpoto tribe clashed with each other in Baberloi police station’s jurisdiction. Police sources said firearms were freely used in the clash, which took place over a piece of land.

SHOT DEAD: A Man and a woman were gunned down in Keenjhar village in Ghotki district over the pretext of Karo Kari on Thursday.

Husband of the murdered woman, Shamsuddin, and his brother Ilam Din were allegedly involved in the murder and both fled.

Shamsuddin opened fire on Habibullah Kalari and his wife with his KK rifle and killed them.

The bodies of the woman and Habibullah were brought to Ghotki Civil Hospital for postmortem and later sent to their villages.

ACTIVIST DIES: Sher Mohammad Boher, president of Jeay Sindh Quami Mahaz, Sarhad, Ghotki district, was crushed to death under the wheels of a Blue Line bus on the National Highway near Sarhad.

The bus, JA-3194, coming from Sadiqabad hit him when he was crossing the road.

COP INJURED: Police constable Khan Muhammad Khoso got injured while trying to foil a robbery attempt in Kandhkot on Thursday.

Four armed robbers broke into the house of Ahmedo in village Sethmeel in the jurisdiction of Risaldar police station, Kandhkot. The inmates woke up and raised an alarm. On hearing the noise, the villagers informed the police who reached on the spot. On seeing the police, the dacoits opened fire. As a result Khan Muhammad Khoso, PC, was seriously injured.
