KARACHI, Oct 1: Moizullah Baig put up a stunning show by winning the qualifying scrabble tournament organised by Pakistan Scrabble Association at Beach Luxury Hotel today.

This tournament was held by PSA to select the Pakistan team for the World Youth Scrabble Championship (WYSC) to be played in Birmingham, England, in December.

Baig’s win was a remarkable achievement due to the fact that he was making his debut at such level. The remaining five players who got selected due to their performance in the qualifying tournament are Jahanzaib Khan, M. Inshal, Javeria Salman, Maryam Arif and Yash Gandhi. Two other players, namely, Shahzaib Khatri and Javeria Mirza, have already been selected for the WYSC by virtue of being on top of the ranking during the whole year.

The team will leave for England in the first week of December. The tournament Director Tariq Pervez was confident that Pakistan will finish among the top three countries team-wise at the event as the players have worked very hard to improve their game during the last year.
