LARKANA, Oct 2: More than 100 political activists were booked for rioting after registration of three FIRs against them at different police stations in Larkana and Shahdadkot on Tuesday.

They were charged with torching a Pakistan Post vehicle and pelting public property with stones and instigating people against the state.

The van was torched on SDM Road in Shahdadkot allegedly by Sindh Taraqqi Pasand Party (STPP) activists during a protest against the local government law. Muhammed Ashraf, the van driver, lodged an FIR against 10 nominated and 40 unidentified persons at the Shahdadkot police station. The nominated suspects include Zahid Magsi, Imdad Soomro, Hayat Tunio, Ghulam Shabir Magsi, Ali Gul and Abdul Rasheed.

In the second FIR registered at the Shahdadkot police station on behalf of the state, 40 persons were booked for stone-throwing, assembling unlawfully and raising slogans against Sindh Law Minister Ayaz Soomro outside his house.

An FIR was also registered at the Waleed police station, Larkana, against 25 protesters including PML-N general secretary Zulfikar Sahito and others for creating trouble, instigating people against the state and assembling outside the minister’s house in Shaikh Zayed Colony on Monday.
