QUETTA: A government official was killed and two others were wounded on Thursday in an incident of firing by unknown gunmen in the Kuchlak, near Balochistan's provincial capital Quetta, DawnNews reported.

According to police sources, the incident occurred in the town's main market when two gunmen suddenly opened indiscriminate gunfire on a car on the National Highway.

All three occupants of the car, who were government officials, were injured in the attack and were shifted to Quetta for medical treatment.

One of the injured succumbed to his wound en route to the hospital.

The condition of the other two injured officials was reported as critical as well.

In a separate incident, unknown gunmen entered a house in Dasht, some 30 kilometres from Quetta, and opened fire, critically injuring a doctor.

The injured person was rushed to a nearby hospital.
