BANNU, Oct 8: Two police constables were killed in an attack on Sabzimandi checkpost in the jurisdiction of Mandan police station here on Monday.

Local residents said that armed motorcyclists opened fire on the Sabzimandi police checkpost on Dera-Bannu Road at 6:45pm killing constables Sharafat and Fakhar Zaman on the spot. The assailants managed to escape after the incident.

Police later cordoned off the area and started a search operation. However, there was no report of any arrest till late night. No group has claimed responsibility for the attack.

It is the sixth such attack on Bannu police. The same checkpost was targeted a few months ago in which a constable was killed.—Correspondent
