CHAKWAL, Oct 8: Monday witnessed an important development in the politics of Chakwal as Raja Sanaul Haq, a close relative of the prime minister, joined Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) formally, at Bilawal Bhutto House.

PPP leaders Faryal Talpur, Information Minister Qamar Zaman Kaira and Raja Khuram Pervez were present on the occasion.

Raja Sanaul Haq went to the federal capital along with PPP’s District President Shahjahan Sarfaraz Raja, MPA Fauzia Behram, PPP’s District Secretary Information Malik Waheed Ahmad and many other leaders and workers. A group of journalists from Chakwal also accompanied Raja Sanaul Haq.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr Raja said that he joined politics in college, after getting inspired by Zulfikar Ali Bhutto.

“When Gen Ziaul Haq launched an operation against the leaders and workers of PPP, I was the first person arrested from Chakwal”, he claimed and added that Bhutto offered him a ticket for contesting the election but he could not avail the opportunity, as he was underage.

He confessed that as differences developed between him and other PPP leaders in Chakwal, he was forced to leave the party.

“Though I left the party but the party could not come out of me”, he justified and elaborated that he returned to his mother party. “Today I’m rejoining my mother party and I will work for it as an ordinary worker”, he maintained.

When asked why he left Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaf (PTI) after remaining in it for nine months, he said: “I joined PTI after getting impressed by its slogan of change but when Imran Khan joined hands with Sheikh Rasheed, I quit the party as I realised that the slogan of change is nothing but a drama”.

Faryal Talpur while welcoming Raja Sanaul Haq in the party said: “We welcome you in your mother party. It’s your own party and we along with you would try our best to work for the development of Chakwal”.

Information Minister Qamar Zaman Kaira also welcomed Raja Sanaul Haq in PPP.
