KARACHI, Oct 11: A school teacher was gunned down by unknown persons in North Karachi late on Thursday night.

Police said the incident took place at UP Mor where unknown suspects riding a motorcycle targeted Ajaz Haider Rizvi, 30, who was passing through the area on his bike.

The suspects fled from the scene after the shooting.

Police said the victim suffered a gunshot wound in the head causing his instant death.

Police moved the body to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for legal formalities.

New Karachi SP Syed Salman Hussain said the deceased was a teacher at Al Murtaza School. He was resident of Block 19, F.B. Area, the officer said.

“The killing appears to be part of the on-going sectarian strife taking place in the city,” SP Hussain said.
