ABBOTTABAD, Oct 9: The district Nazim of Abbottabad, Mustafa Khan Jadoon, imposed section 144 under the Local Government Amended Order, 2001, and the Police Act (Amendment), 2001, for 10 days, banning rallies, meetings and public gatherings across the district.

Before the new local bodies system, such orders were issued by the then district magistrates and deputy commissioners.

The order will remain in force till Oct 17.

WATER SUPPLY: People in various parts of the city have been facing acute water shortage for the last couple of days.

The localities worst hit are: Kehal Upper and Lower, Kunj Jadeed and Kunj Qadeem, main bazaar and Karimpura.

It has been learnt that out of nine tubewells, only four are working. Frequently, pipelines in different areas develop leakages, resulting in stoppage of water supply to the main reservoir at Band Khoo.

Citizens have appealed to the high-ups to take adequate against the municipality staff for their negligence not only in water supply but also in the sanitation system which is even worse.
