Dadu dist Nazim threatens to resign

DADU, Jan 2: Criticizing the interference in the district government working, Dadu District Nazim Malik Asad Sikandar has said that the power has not been devolved in real sense as announced by the government.

Speaking at the foundation stone laying ceremony of the new building of the Dadu Press Club here on Wednesday, he said that he would resign from the office of the district Nazim if he failed to provide justice and facilities to the people.

He said that as the district Nazim, he had no power even to transfer a peon but when he was an MNA or MPA in the past, he had enjoyed much powers.

He said that he had no power from the administrative point of view and could only provide development schemes.

He criticised the government and said that due to interference in the working of Dadu district government, the people could not be provided any relief.

He said that the people of the district had expressed their confidence on him by electing him the district Nazim but his district government was not able to solve their problems because power had not been devolved as announced by the government.

Speaking on the occasion, DCO Allah Dito Shar said that Dadu was a backward district and its residents were facing difficulties.

He said that the district government was trying its best to provide basic facilities to the people of remote areas.

The EDO, health, Dr Khadim Hussain Lakhiar, assured the people that the health department would strive for providing health cover to the people.

He said that 25 mobile medical teams had been constituted for the treatment of people, living in the far-flung areas of Kachho, Kutcho and Kohistan areas.

Dadu Taluka Nazim Syed Zafar Ali Shah and Johi Union Council Nazim Mohammad Usman Jamali also spoke at the ceremony.

Later, a musical programme was held, in which Kosar Marvi, Khadim Sakhirani, Balak Sindhi, Shabbir Sakhirani and other singers presented different songs.
