KARACHI, Oct 30: Pakistan’s snooker prodigy Asjad Iqbal has said that he is looking forward to give his best in next month’s international event in Dubai as well as in the IBSF World Snooker Championship, being held in Sofia (Bulgaria).

“Rigorous training in Bangkok and now in Sargodha has made me mentally stronger and I am hoping to give my best in the global event,” the 21-year-old Asjad said in an interview on Tuesday.

“I have dedicated all my energies to perhaps the hardest training session of my life in Sargodha,” said the highly talented Asjad.

He informed that he is currently undergoing training with his mentor Mohammad Sajjad and former Pakistan coach Bilal Mughal.

Asjad with Omair Alam attended month-long training in the Thai capital, sponsored by World Professional Billiards and Snooker Association.

“Training in Bangkok under former world champion Pradit Chuchart did a world of good to me. It was also a grand experience to meet snooker star James Wattana,” he added.

Chuchart bagged the honour of winning his maiden world title in Karachi in 1993. “I learnt a lot of things and Inshallah it will benefit me in the global event,” Asjad, the Pakistan number two, commented.

The international event will be staged in Dubai from Nov 4-11 while the World Snooker Championship in Sofia will be held from Nov 24.

Besides Asjad, country’s number one cueist Mohammad Asif will also be representing Pakistan in Dubai and Sofia events.—APP
