NAWABSHAH, Oct 31: The court here on Wednesday ordered Nawabshah police to record the statement of an applicant in the murder case of Bashir Khan Qureshi and act as per law.

The hearing on the application of Maqsood Qureshi, brother of JSQM’s deceased chairman Bashir Khan Qureshi, was held in the court of 3rd additional sessions judge.

Shahbaz Dahiri, counsel for the applicant, informed the court that his client had approached police for registration of an FIR, but the police did not complied the court orders and kept him waiting.

Later, Mr Dahiri told reporters that Shaheed Benazirabad SSP Khalid Mustafa Korai, Crime Branch of Hyderabad SP K.D Chandio, Sakrand DSP Yaar Mohammed Rind and SHO of Sakrand police station Sanaullah Panhwar also attended the court.

They submitted a statement with a plea that the federal interior minister and director-general of ISI and Rangers enjoyed immunity, therefore, case could not be registered against them.

They also stated that the applicant had not approached the police for registration of FIR.

The counsel insisted that his client had approached the Sakrand police, but he was kept waiting for hours and case was not registered. The entire episode had been reported in the print and electronic media, he added.

Maqsood Qureshi told reporters that it was proven that agencies were very powerful and involved in the murder of Bashir Khan Qureshi.

He said they reserved the right to approach higher courts for justice.

DEMO: Activists of the JSQM held a demonstration outside the local press club in protest against the decision and observed a sit-in led by Maqsood Qureshi, Akash Mallah, vice-chairman of the JSQM, Kehar Ansari, Sarfaraz Memon and Ali Raza Khaskheli.

The party announced to holding peaceful demonstrations throughout Sindh on Thursday.
