KOHAT/LANDI KOTAL, Nov 3: One person was injured in a remote-controlled bomb blast in Hangu on Saturday.

Police said that unidentified persons planted the explosive device on a roadside in Feroze Ghundi area of Hangu city. They said that a man identified as Arif was injured and his Suzuki van was destroyed completely in the blast. The injured was shifted to civil hospital in Hangu.

In another incident, the dead body of a resident of district Nowshera was found near Orakzai Chowk in Kohat on Saturday.

The deceased was identified as Sajid. The body was shifted to his hometown by his relatives after postmortem.

In Khyber Agency, security forces arrested more than over 200 tribesmen and seized huge quantity of contraband during search and cordon operation in different localities of Bara on Saturday.The forces imposed curfew in Baz Garha locality of Kamarkhel and conducted an extensive search operation in the area.

Officials said that as many as 129 tribesmen were taken into custody during the operation. They were shifted to Fort Salop and Shah Kas for questioning. Forces also used artillery to target militant hideouts in the area. However, no loss of life was reported in the shelling.

In Alamgudar area of Sipah, security forces seized 500 bags full of charas, five mortar shells, a motor car and arrested at least 75 local people for their alleged involvement in drugs business.

After the operation at Alamgudar drug market, forces put on fire at least eight shops from where the contraband was recovered.

Sources in Akkakhel said that unidentified persons blew up the houses of two peace activists on Saturday.

The houses owned by Mameen Khan and Nusrat Khan were situated in Meel Wat area of Akkakhel. The houses were vacated long ago by the owners owing to fear of militant attacks.

In Swat, unidentified persons set on fire a government primary school for girls in Thelegram area on Saturday morning.

Sources said that unidentified persons set the building of school on fire in Khwar Pati locality of Thelegram. The building of the school was partially damaged while its furniture and record was reduced to ashes.
