PESHAWAR, Nov 6: The mother of a slain student has accused Swabi police of supporting the alleged killers of her son and demanded of Chief Justice Peshawar High Court Dost Mohammad Khan for an impartial probe into the incident.

Speaking at a press conference at Peshawar Press Club on Tuesday the woman, Ummaya Begum, wife of Muslim Khan (late) of Chota Lahor in Swabi district, said her husband had died 16 years ago in a road accident and her only son was also shot dead by a family in her neighbourhood and accused were yet to be awarded punishment.

“My son studied in grade 10, but a girl wished to marry him despite my refusal. The girl used to send SMS texts to my son and once she called him to her residence after evening on January 27, 2012 and her father accompanied by other men killed him,” she claimed.

She said the accused family was so influential that it managed to get two of the investigation officers transferred and the accused was released within 18 days of his arrest as the police did not pursue the case.

The police, she said even did not dare to arrest the accused girl despite having all the proofs about her contact with the boy on her cellular phone.

“We provided all the relevant documents, phone/SMS record to the police but no action was taken, rather the accused was facilitated because the victim’s family was unable to bribe the police,” she maintained.
