LARKANA, Jan 5: Negotiations between the People’s Party Parliamentarians and the Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal to nominate joint opposition leader in the National Assembly and the Sindh Assembly are underway.

This was said by Sindh MMA general secretary Dr Khalid Mehmood Soomro while talking to this correspondent here on Sunday.

He hoped the two parties would arrive at consensus and added the PPP should support the MMA as it was the largest opposition group in the National Assembly.

He said the PPP had lost its MNAs and MPAs due to the myopic political approach of the party’s top leadership.

He said despite the PPP’s deviation from talks at the center, his party supported the PPP in formation of the Sindh government as it was the majority party.

About the appointment of Dr Ishratul Ibad as the Sindh governor, the MMA leader said Dr Ibad was inducted at the top slot despite he was nominated in many cases.

According to him, the MQM would continue to blackmail the government both in the Center and Sindh.

Dr Soomro opposed the imminent attack on Iraq by the United States as it had fulfilled the requirements for inspection of its weapon facilities.

He also condemned the FBI’s activities in Pakistan.

ARRESTED: The Larkana police on Sunday arrested Sardar Akbar Junejo, the chief of the Junejo clan, and Muhbat Ali Jiskani in connection with the murder of FIA inspector Hussain Ali Sargani.

Sargani was killed on Saturday night in the jurisdiction of the Market police station.

The deceased was buried in Dodai graveyard on Sunday.

Munir Sargani, the brother of the deceased, has lodged an FIR with the Market police against Javed Jiskani, Adam, Hashim, Sadruddin, Waris, Raza Mohammad, Muhbat, Kamil and three unidentified persons.

The police raided the houses of the accused in Allahabad but they had left their houses.
