RAWALPINDI, Nov 8: Pakistan Army wrapped up their limited-overs series against the touring British Army outfit with a 41-run win in the second Twenty20 game at the Army Cricket Stadium here on Thursday.

On a sunny afternoon, British Army skipper Jacques Prinsloo again opted to field first after winning the toss. But he was again left to rue his decision as the home side reached 179-3 with captain Babar Nawaz contributing 67 in a 59-ball innings which included six boundaries.

Sanaullah also played brilliantly to strike eight fours and one six in his belligerent 27-ball knock of 60, while Shahid Khan struck a breezy 36 from 23 balls with the aid of four hits to the fence.

For the visitors, Boynton, Kyungungu and Onyuro grabbed a wicket each.

British Army’s batting once gain failed to chase down a tough target. They lost wickets at regular intervals before being rolled over for 138 in 19.4 overs. The only batsman to make a notable contribution was Sherwin Govender who hammered 55 from the 42 deliveries he faced, while hitting four fours and three sixes.

Among other batsmen, Daniel Webb blasted a quick 23 off just eight balls with three boundaries and a towering six.

The pick of the Pakistan Army bowlers was Nasar Iqbal who grabbed four wickets for 16 runs in four overs.

Lt Gen Raheel Sharif, HI (M) IGT&E, was the chief guest at the prize distribution ceremony which was also graced by British High Commissioner Adam Thomson, PCB chairman Zaka Ashraf and Director Army Sports Brig Iqtidar Naseer.

Govender was adjudged the Man-of-the-Match while Nasar received the best bowler’s trophy for taking eight wickets during the short series. Babar Nawaz was declared the best batsman as well as the Man-of-the-Series.

During the tour, British Army both Twenty20 matches and a one-day fixture against their Pakistani counterparts as well as another Twenty20 game against a PCB XI.
