LAHORE, Nov 9: Two events were decided on the opening day of the eighth National Women’s Karate Championship which began at the Wapda Sports Complex here on Friday.

Teams from all the affiliated units of the Pakistan Karate Federation (PKF) namely Army, Wapda, Railways, Police, Punjab, Sindh, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Balochistan and Islamabad are participating in the championship.

In the first contest, Sohila from Wapda won the individual kata event while Arfa from Sindh stood second and players from Army and Balochistan earned bronze.

In team kata event, Wapda clinched gold medal, Balochistan secured the second position while Army and Islamabad claimed the third spot.

Meanwhile, the PKF is also organising a three-day referees/judges course which started on Friday. Fifty referees/judges are participating in the course.
