QUETTA: Doctors in Balochistan have decided to continue their strike in protest of the non-recovery of their abducted colleague Dr Saeed Ahmed Khan, DawnNews reported.

Following the approval of his bail petition by a session court in Quetta, Pakistan Medical Association (PMA) Balochistan chapter President Dr Sultan Tareen spoke to media representatives at a general body meeting of the association.

He said that the provincial government did not seem serious in making efforts to recover the kidnapped doctor, Dr Saeed Ahmed Khan. He added that the strike would continue until Dr Saeed was recovered.

Dr Tareen further added that unless all registered cases against doctors were withdrawn, emergency services in the hospitals would not be restored.

Suspensions, arrests, transfers and other similar tactics could not demoralise the doctors, he added.

Subsequently, the general body unanimously decided that the strike would continue until the doctors’ demands were acknowledged without any pressure.
