NEW DELHI,: Pakistani troops fired at forward Indian posts along the Line of Control (LoC) in the Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir, but there was no loss of life or damage to property, the Press Trust of India said on Sunday.

It quoted an Indian defence ministry spokesman as alleging that Pakistani soldiers used small and medium range weapons as they resorted to unprovoked firing on several Indian posts along the LoC in Krishnagati forward belt in Poonch sector on Saturday night.

“There was heavy firing, which continued till late into the night, from across the border prompting Indian troops to retaliate,” PTI said, quoting the spokesman.

The report further accused Pakistan Rangers of violating the truce along the LoC six times this month.
