KARACHI: With the exception of two changes, all other incumbent office-bearers of the Pakistan Billiards and Snooker Federation (PBSF) were re-elected unopposed for a term of four-year during the electoral annual general body meeting held at a local hotel on Wednesday.
Dr Amin Delawalla and Khalil Bachani succeeded Hanif Memon and Mustafa A. Aziz respectively as members of the executive committee.
At the outset, two amendments were made in the constitution during the extraordinary general meeting changing the nomenclature of the PBSA to PBSF and extending the term of office-bearers from two to four years in line with the national sports policy.
It is pertinent to mention that Alamgir Shaikh took over the reins from Asghar Valika four years ago after the latter was compelled to step down after serving in office for two decades. Similarly, Munawwar Hussain Shaikh replaced Aspi Mawalwala as secretary.
The meeting was preceded by behind-the-scene hiccups after another group came forward by filing nominations until it was resolved during the managing committee meeting on Tuesday night following their withdrawal.
Those who filed nominations included Shahnawaz Khan (president), Aspi Mawalvala (secretary), Sikandar Badruddin and Fahim Sakrani (managing committee).
Liaquat Ali Chandio, director of the PSB Coaching Centre, attended the meeting as observer on the directives from PSB headquarters Islamabad.
Earlier, the meeting confirmed the minutes of the last AGM held on Dec 30 last year besides approving the audited accounts for the year that ended on June 30 this year.
