FAISALABAD, Jan 11: Robbers took away thousands of rupees besides six motorcycles and two cars in 11 strikes in the city and its adjoining areas during the last 24 hours.

Three robbers forced their entry into a restaurant in Khurrianwala and looted thousands of rupees and other valuables from the customers. They seriously injured restaurant owner Manzar and customer Muhammad Yousaf, when they put up resistance.

A gang of highwaymen looted thousands of rupees and gold ornaments from the passengers of a bus on Faisalabad-Jaranwala Road.

A serviceman, Muhammad Khan, was robbed of thousands of rupees and wrist watch.

Four highwaymen took away the taxi car (No SAE 3838) from driver Muhammad Naeem in Aminpur Bangla area.

Two masked robbers snatched Rs50,000 and a two-wheeler (No FDS 8390) from trader Muhammad Iqbal in Ghulam Muhammadabad.

Masked highwaymen took away the motorcycle (No FDZ 6769) from Muhammad Rafique in Ghulam Muhammadabad.

Two robbers took away the two-wheeler (No FDZ 5166) from Muhammad Nasir on Faisalabad-Sargodha Road.

Three highwaymen snatched Rs7,000 and a two-wheeler from Muhammad Younas in Nishatabad.

The car of Anwarul Haq was driven away from Peoples Colony while the motorcycle (No FDT 8319) of Shabbir Ahmed from Harianwala Chowk of Batala Colony and the motorcycle (No FDL 2548) of Abdul Shakoor were taken away from Mustafabad.

Meanwhile, Peoples Colony Police claimed to have arrested four members of an inter-province gang of robbers, including its ring leader, and recovered stolen articles from them.

Police said that on a tip-off, a house in Madina Town was raided from where Yasir Arafat, Iran Ahmad, Amir Khan and ring leader Muhammad Boota were arrested while planning robbery.

Stolen articles, including electronic goods, and thousands of rupees were also recovered from their possession.

During preliminary interrogation, the accused reportedly told police that they were members of a 23-men gang which has been operative in different parts of the province for the last many years.

Police said raids were being conducted for the arrest of the remaining members of the gang.

BURNT: Fire reduced to ashes cloth, yarn and machinery, worth hundreds of thousands of rupees in a Gulberg factory here on Friday night.

According to details, fire broke out in a textile unit reportedly because of a short circuit and flames engulfed the entire factory within minutes.

Area people informed the fire fighters who could extinguish the flames after couple of hours. By then fire had destroyed yarn, cloth and machinery of the factory.
