PESHAWAR, Dec 20: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa home and tribal affairs department on Thursday dismissed 14 officials of Haripur Jail, forcibly retired two and demoted one over the escape of four prisoners from the prison on the night between Oct 20 and 21, 2012.

A statement issued by the department said the punishment was awarded to the said officials on completion of an inquiry.

According to it, senior assistant superintendent of jail Fazal Mehmood, head warder Abdul Sattar and warders Shah Qaiser, Sher Bahadar, Jamaluddin, Manzoor Khan, Mohammad Rishtiqaque, Hameed Gul, Akhtar Zaman, Mohammad Ibrahim, Zamark Khan, Sakhawat Hussain, Saeed Khan and Mohammad Yasir were dismissed from service, while senior assistant superintendent Mohammad Naeem was demoted to assistant superintendent.—Bureau Report
