LAHORE, Dec 21: Tehrik-i-Minhajul Quran (TMQ) Chief Dr Tahirul Qadri says his party is organising a rally in Lahore on Sunday (tomorrow) to mobilise the public against the “corrupt political system” which according to him has brought Pakistan on the verge of destruction.

At a press conference on Friday, he rejected the perception that the military establishment was behind his second coming to politics after a hibernation of seven years.

“Except for Almighty Allah and the Holy Prophet (Peace be upon him), I don’t seek support from anyone,” he said.

He said the prevailing political system had been favouring only two per cent of the people for the last 66 years.

“That is why we are talking about changing the system and not for holding elections again and again under this system,” he said.

He urged the people to boycott the (parliamentary democracy) system and replace it with a new and transparent one that could guarantee provision of rights to them under the Constitution as well as Islam without any discrimination.

He said he would unveil his plan – Riasat Bachao or save the state -- in his address to the rally.

“We hope the participation of around 2.5 million people in the rally,” he said.
