PUNJAB Chief Minister, Shahbaz Sharif has announced the yellow cab scheme for the educated unemployed individuals of Punjab. At the beginning, the criterion for the application was FA and degree relevant to the 12 years of full-time education but after that the criterion was changed to matriculation level with a valid driving licence.

The total number of yellow cabs, including 16,000 Suzuki Mehran cars and 4,000 Bolan, were announced to be distributed among the successful individuals after balloting.

The first balloting took place in Rawalpind in the presence of Mr Sharif. After the first draw, there is a condition for the successful candidates as they have to fulfil the requirement of initial driving training from the National Logistic Corporation, Dina, Jhelum. After getting the training certificate, they are eligible to take the yellow cab.

Now there is a big corruption in the yellow cab scheme as a large number of successful candidates are waiting for their taxis but the administration says that all the yellow cabs have been finished. How is it is possible? Some of the candidates were informed by the administration that their files have been displaced. This is a big blunder. The cabs have been sold out to relatives by using unfair means.

Some successful candidates said that they were forced to take Suzuki Mehran instead of Bolan because they have already sold out Bolan.

I request the chief minister to hold an inquiry into this scam.
