QUETTA, Dec 22: Only one illegal immigrant out of the 11 gunned down near Pakistan-Iran border in Gwadar on Friday was identified, officials said on Saturday. The man, identified as Shamsuddin, belonged to Sialkot.

It is said the men wanted to reach Europe via Iran by using illegal means. “The rest of the dead have not been identified so far and Gwadar administration has shifted the bodies to the Edhi morgue in Karachi for identification,” Deputy Commissioner Sohailur Rehman said.

The 11 men were waiting in Pothan area of Suntsar sub-tehsil of the Gwadar district close to the border for a vehicle to cross into Iran when they were gunned them.

Provincial Home Secretary Akbar Hussain Durrani said that some Pashtu and Persian speaking people could be among the dead.—Staff Correspondent
