PESHAWAR: Awami National Party (ANP)'s Senior Minister Bashir Ahmed Bilour was laid to rest at the Syed Hassan Pir graveyard on Sunday after his funeral prayers were offered at the Karnal Sher Khan Shaheed Satdium (Army stadium) in Peshawar Cantt area.
Presidential spokesman Farhattullah Babar and a large number of political leaders belonging various parties, including the Pakistan People's Party (PPP), Pakistan Muslim League- Nawaz (PML-N), Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) and Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid ( PML-Q) among others, were present in the funeral procession.
A large number of ANP party workers and city residents also joined the procession of the slain ANP leader.
Around 2,000 personnel of the Army, police and FC were deployed around the stadium as part of strict security arrangements.
Bilour was buried in the Syed Hassan Pir graveyard next to the grave of Shabbir Ahmed Bilour, who was believed to be his son and had been adopted by his brother Federal Minister for Railways Ghulam Ahmed Bilour.
A national day of mourning was announced by the prime minister due to the tragedy.
Earlier today, the funeral prayer of Noor Mohammad Khan, Bilour's personal secretary for almost 25 years, was held in the Kakshal area of Peshawar following which the funeral was taken to his ancestral village for burial.
The funeral prayers and burial of Abdul Sattar Khan, a police Station House Officer (SHO) escorting Bilour, were also held earlier in the day.
FIR for the suicide blast incident that killed Bilour and eight others was registered at a police station in Peshawar.

I could not even imagine that dawn can print any news without being verified, perhaps I was wrong. It is totally insane to suggest that Shabir Ahmad Bilour Shaheed was a son of Mr Bashir Ahmad Bilour Shaheed and was adopted by Haji Ghulam Ahmad Bilour .

I offer my deepest condolences to the family and friends of Bashir Ahmed Bilour. May his soul rest in peace. He paid a heavy price of his life for siding with the principles of truth. Ultimately his killers would be real losers here in this world and the hereafter. It is high time that all political parties be united on one point agenda - eliminate terrorism and cleanse Pakistan of all sorts of extremism as the very survival of the country depends upon achieving this one single objective. Faith, Unity and Discipline are still as valid today as they were at the time of gaining independence.

Yet another name to the names of Pakistan's martyrs. Bashir Ahmad Bilour was a brave man of valor and integrity assassinated by cowards who wouldn't dare to face him and rather have him killed by a suicide bomber.
Today Pakistan has lost a brave soldier in the war against terrorism but make no mistake!! His end will bring an uprise to many Bashir Bilours and they will keep fighting this war against terrorism!!!!

Almost all the comments below are paying respect to Shaheed Bilour but if you look there are some thumbs down on almost all these comments. This really shows that the evil mindset is never too far away. Some people don't even have the decency to show respect to the deceased, but they consider themselves champions of Islam.

Media is trying to glorify a politician turned 'martyr' while ignoring the 8 others who lost their life. Those who knew Bilour are well aware his contributions to this nation are negligible. He was only active for self-serving purposes and for building his family empire made of illegal gotten wealth. His name has become synonymous with corruption of all kinds, but the media has turned him into a martyr. May God forgive him.
