KARACHI, Jan 4: Faiq Azam and Robin Das completed the men’s singles quartet owing to straight victories over their opponents in the 20th Sindh Sports Board (SSB) development series ranking tennis championship at Union Club on Friday.

Faiq carved out a 6-2, 6-4 victory over Sikander Hayat Khan while Robin blanked Aamir Tunio 6-0, 6-0. Top seed Rehmat Ali Ahsan and Changez Hasan have made it to the semi-finals the other day.

Meanwhile, the ladies singles matches commenced on Friday with eight women competing for honours.

Results: Men’s singles: Quarter-finals: Faiq Azam bt Sikander Hayat Khan 6-2, 6-4; Robin Das bt Aamir Tunio (Larkana) 6-0, 6-0.

Ladies singles: First round: Wania Khan bt Mahnoor Jamshed 6-1, 6-0; Hania Naveed bt Kinza Ghanchi 6-1, 6-0.

Boys and girls under-15 singles: Quarter-final: Mohammad Raza Sawani bt Dawood Admani 6-0, 6-0.

Boys and girls under-11 singles: Quarter-finals: Mohammad Dada bt Abdul Samad 8-0; Rayyan Jawad bt Ibrahim Admani 8-5.

Saturday’s fixtures: Matches start at 9.30am.
