KARACHI, Jan 5: Top seed Naveen Perwani justified his billing while notching up 6-4 victory over unseeded A. Majid Anwar in the final to land the Sindh Snooker Cup at Indus Snooker Parlour on Saturday.
Naveen, who has many feathers in his cap, was home 80-25, 68-50, 71-14, 68-2, 47-60, 87-4, 30-65, 59-73, 26-55, 64-35 in the best of 11 frames final.
The former international cueist shot into 4-0 lead needing two frames to post victory but was given a tough time by his opponent who fought back changing the one-sided scenario by taking four frames.
Naveen fetched a winning purse of Rs35,000 while Majid Anwar received runner-up prize of Rs20,000. The losing semi-finalists got Rs10,000 apiece.
Highest break award went to M. Akmal for piling up 104 against Minhas Malik during the league match.
Secretary of the Sindh Billiards and Snooker Association (SBSA), Sikandar Ali Badruddin, graced the final and gave away the prizes. SBSA official Naveed Kapadia was also present.
Meanwhile, top six players of the event have qualified for the 2013 national championship.
The players are Naveen Perwani, A. Majid Anwar, Khizar Aziz, Uzair Aziz, Jawaid Ansari and M. Ishtaiq.
Final result: Naveen Perwani bt A. Majid Anwar 6-4 (80-25, 68-50, 71-14, 68-2, 47-60, 87-4, 30-65, 59-73, 26-55, 64-35).
