ATTOCK, Jan 7: The Punjab government has given additional charge of district monitoring officer (DMO) to the Assistant Commissioner (General) revenue Attock, Malik Mohammad Ejaz.
Mr Ejaz will perform as acting DMO till the permanent appointment of an officer on the post of DMO, which has been lying vacant for the past three months, since the transfer of DMO Abdul Hameed Rehmani, in November 2012, to DG Khan district.
Mr Ejaz, on Monday, confirmed his additional appointment while speaking to Dawn.
Earlier, a three months delay in the appointment of DMO was a hindrance in monitoring activities in the health and education sector, an official disclosed.
The basic task of the district monitoring office is to monitor all kind of activities related to education and health department, besides surveillance of ongoing development projects. Moreover, the DMO is the focal person of the Daanish School System, in Attock district. Meanwhile, officials in DMO’s office disclosed that due to the DMO’s vacant post, the salaries of newly appointed Monitoring and Evaluation Assistants (MEAs) could not be paid. Even the office telephone was disconnected due to non-payment of bills, officials maintained.
However, now with the appointment of acting DMO, such problems would be resolved, hoped officials.—Correspondent
