KARACHI: Pakistan's President Asif Ali Zardari said on Monday that the general elections would be held on time and instructed the Pakistan People's Party (PPP) workers to begin election preparations adding that the PPP would present its five-year performance to the people, DawnNews reported.

President Zardari and PPP Chairman Bilalwal Bhutto Zardari met with party members and provincial as well as federal lawmakers belonging to Badin, Mitthi and Qambar Shadadkot districts of Sindh.

The provincial and federal lawmakers apprised President Zardari of their performance during the past five years.

Chairman and Co-chairperson of the PPP instructed the party members to remain in their constituencies to serve the people as the party would contest the upcoming elections based on the part five years' performance.

Bilawal Bhutto said that the country faces the perils of extremism and terrorism and it was this mentality only which had claimed the life of his mother, Benazir Bhutto.
