ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s first-ever home squash series, which was earlier scheduled to be played at the neutral venue of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) in the ongoing month, would now be held in the last week of February.

“Pakistan, UAE and Egypt will be playing a round robin league in the last week of next month,” Pakistan Squash Federation’s (PSF) honorary secretary Abdul Wahab Marwat said on Monday.

He said the series was postponed due to the hectic schedule of Egyptian players.

“As most of their (Egypt’s) best players are busy, we have decided to postpone the series and hold it in the last week of next month,” Marwat added.

He said the Pakistan outfit would be consisted of the same four players who would take part in the Asian Under-19 Junior Team Championship, scheduled to be held in Seoul from Feb 20 to 24.

Pakistan team will comprise Ali Bukhari, Tayyab Aslam, Ammad Fareed and Bilal Zakir.

Marwat said each team would play three matches in the series.

“We are expecting some tough competition from Egypt. But our players too are in good shape and capable of beating any side,” he said.

He was optimistic that the series would provide good competition to Pakistan players and help them get experience of playing against stronger teams.—APP
