ISLAMABAD, Jan 21: A disqualified PML-Q lawmaker, Begum Shahnaz Sheikh has urged the Supreme Court to stop proceedings against her to the extent of recovery of salary and perks till her review petition pending before it is decided.

In an application to Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry, Begum Shahnaz said she had resigned as a member of the National Assembly on Sept 17, 2012 – more than a month before the announcement of the judgment in the dual nationality case on Oct 20, 2012.

The former MNA claimed that her case had been treated in an unfair manner which she said might hurt the very spirit of natural justice. She attached to her application a list of 20 lawmakers, saying theirs was the same case but they had been given a different treatment.

The list includes names of Adviser to Prime Minister on Petroleum and Natural Resources Dr Asim Hussain, Sabeen Rizvi, Dr Araish Kumar, Syed Tayyab Hassan, Dr Nadeem Ehsan, Syed Haider Abbas Rizvi, Fauzia Ejaz, Dr Tahir Ali Javed, Jamil Ashraf, Murad Ali Shah, Sadiq Ali Memon, Abdul Moid Siddiqui, Syed Muhammad Ali Shah, Askari Taqvi, Muhammad Raza Haroon, Javaid Iqbal Tarkai, Faiza Asghar and Muhammad Jameel Malik.

The list also includes names of Donya Aziz and Arif Aziz Sheikh, who had conceded to be holding by birth the citizenship of the United States and Australia, respectively.

Begum Shahnaz said she had never made any false statement, either before her party head, the Election Commission of Pakistan, the National Assembly Secretariat or the Supreme Court.
