LAHORE: Pakistan Muslim League - Nawaz (PML-N) chief Nawaz Sharif on Saturday claimed that the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) was not being allowed to play an effective role in Karachi, DawnNews reported.

A meeting in Raiwind of the PML-N's Sindh leaders, chaired by Sharif, decided that the party would hold a march to demonstrate against the obstacles that were being created in the way of the election commission’s work in Karachi.

The meeting also decided that the PML-N would hold a sit-in with other opposition groups in front of the parliament to register their protest over the deteriorating law and order situation in the provinces of Sindh and Balochistan.

During the meeting, the PML-N chief directed the party's Sindh leadership to highlight the issues pertaining to the process of door-to-door voter verification in Karachi.

Sharif moreover delegated party leader Ghaus Ali Shah the task to form alliances with political groups in Sindh prior to the upcoming general elections.

The PML-N chief said the Pakistan People's Party (PPP) had disappointed the people, especially in Sindh.

He added that the PPP would have to account for its poor governance in the general elections.
