PESHAWAR, Jan 28: The department of archaeology and museums has discovered relics of Buddhist era at Aziz Dheri in Swabi district. The important relic amongst the discoveries is the stupa of the Buddhist era.

The importance of this stupa is recognised as holy and respectable in Buddhism, according to a press release.

Aziz Dheri enjoys importance in history and is considered as central place in Buddhist era.

The department of archaeology and museums in cooperation with the University of Peshawar initiated excavation at the historic place. For this purpose, the department also obtained the services of Dr Qazi Naeem of the department of archaeology, University of Peshawar.—APP
