ISLAMABAD, Feb 1: Falcons made sure that the Falcons Invitational Basketball Tournament 2013 title stayed at home when they defeated Eagles 59-43 in the final at the Sector I-8 court here on Friday.

The most consistent team in the capital city, Islamabad Falcons stamped their authority right from the word go, taking a commanding 19-5 lead by the end of the first quarter.

Eagles fought back well in the second quarter. They started playing much better and did not allow Falcons to play their natural aggressive game.

The scoreline in the quarter was 15-14 in favour of the winners, who led 34-19 at the halfway stage.

The third quarter was also a well-fought affair with Falcons stretching their advantage to 20 points going into the last 10 minutes of the tournament.

With Islamabad Falcons relaxing a bit, Eagles outscored their opponents 13-11 in the fourth quarter. That effort, however, proved too late.

Rizwan Khurshid top scored for the Falcons with 19 points. Anwar Khan also had a good game with 13 points.

Jarri Abbas led Eagles’ scorers with 16 points. Murtaza Shigri played equally well for his 13.

The Links School manager Misbah Khurshid was the chief guest at the prize-distribution ceremony. Islamabad Basketball Association president Alamgir Khan was also present on the occasion.

A special souvenir was also presented to Khalid Hafeez for his dedication to the Islamabad Falcons Basketball Club.
