SWABI, Feb 7: Three wanted men were killed and two fled in exchange of fire with police in Sodher area here on Thursday.

Local superintendent of police Abdul Rashid told a news conference that police signaled a car in Sodher area to stop but the driver sped it away with four others riding in it firing gunshots at police.

Police chased the car up to Jaganat Canal on Yar Hussain-Chota Lahor Road, where three runaways died in exchange of fire.

Two, however, managed to flee.

Police said the dead people included two brothers Fayyaz Khan and Zahid Khan, and Hayatullah, all wanted men.

They said Fayyaz was wanted by Swabi police for killing six people and attacking Chota Lahore city police station SHO Zulfiqar Bangash, while Zahid was wanted by local police for murder and another crime.

Police said Hayatullah was wanted by Rawalpindi police for murder and another offence.

They said all the three belonged to Malakand division and two Kalashnikovs and a revolver were recovered from their custody.

Meanwhile, a moneychanger was gunned down near Kala route when he was on the way to Garmunara village.

His brother named Mukhtiar Khan of Garmunara village and Hamid Khan of Gar Maneri for the murder while requesting police for registration of a case.
