LAHORE: President Asif Ali Zardari and PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto visited Barrister Aitzaz Ahsan at his farmhouse on Bedian Road here on Tuesday.

Talking to reporters after the meeting, Ahsan said the president could do politics outside the presidency according to the judgment of the Lahore High Court.

He said injustice had been done to former premier Yousuf Raza Gilani. The Supreme Court should review its decision to disqualify him (Gilani) for five years for not writing a letter to the Swiss authorities.

The former counsel for Gilani further said he always asked the government to write the letter as it would not challenge the immunity of the president. The Swiss authorities had followed the international laws.

Ahsan said Nawaz Sharif should have accepted the condolences of President Zardari on his brother’s death as it was the culture of Punjab to visit each other on the moments of happiness and sadness despite differences.

Meanwhile, President Zardari telephoned US secretary of state John Kerry and congratulated him on assuming the office. — Staff Reporter
