LAHORE: Chief Minister Punjab Shahbaz Sharif on Saturday claimed President Asif Ali Zardari and his supporters were conspiring to derail the election process but the attempt to put the nation through these crises would not succeed, DawnNews reported.
Speaking at a meeting in Lahore with the members of assemblies hailing from various districts of Punjab, Chief Minister Sharif said President Zardari and his ‘disciples’ were only focused on ‘plundering’ the national wealth.
The chief minister said the public was tired of ‘thieves and crooks’ and would hold such elements accountable in the upcoming general elections.
Moreover, he said the government had not focused on resolving the public’s problems and instead, the leaders were busy working towards achieving their own ulterior motives.
Chief Minister Sharif further said that if the people gave the Pakistan Muslim League – Nawaz (PML-N) another chance to serve them, then the ‘journey of progress’ would resume under the leadership of Nawaz Sharif. He added that a PML-N government would ensure the resolution of issues such as loadshedding and unemployment.
