CHAKWAL, Feb 17: Mohammad Shujaat Mirza, a student from Chakwal, has topped the world in O Level International Cambridge Examinations.

The 17-year-old student of Myers College, Chakwal, secured As in all the nine subjects he appeared in.

“This is a great success not only for the student and his school but also for the entire Chakwal district,” said Raja Yassir Sardaraz, the head of the college.

He added: “The point I wanted to prove has been proven by the grace of God. The point was that if given proper direction, students from the under-privileged class can produce extraordinary result.”

Talking to Dawn, the excited Shujaat Mirza said he wanted to become a chemical engineer.

“I’m very excited over my success and the credit of my achievement goes to my parents who rendered unprecedented support to me. I’m very thankful to my great teacher Sir Imran and college chairman Sir Yassir who started O Level in Chakwal,” he said.

The student said when he got admission he realised that he had to compete not only with students from Pakistan but from all over the world.

“I would also try my best to achieve such a success in future,” he said.
