ISLAMABAD, Feb 18: The government decided on Monday to send a six-member parliamentary delegation to Quetta to assess the situation in the wake of a fresh terrorist attack on the Shia Hazara community.

Prime Minister Raja Pervez Ashraf has directed members of the delegation to go to Quetta on Tuesday.

According to a press note, the prime minister’s secretariat said the delegation would comprise Minister for Information and Broadcasting Qamar Zaman Kaira, Minister for Inter-Provincial Coordination Hazar Khan Bijrani, Maula Bakhsh Chandio, Chairman of the Public Accounts Committee Nadeem Afzal Gondal, Senator Sughra Imam and MNA Yasmin Rehman.

The delegation will meet the affected families and representatives of security and intelligence agencies and the provincial administration. It will submit a comprehensive report containing its observations and recommendations.

Separately, the prime minister has called for a comprehensive report from the intelligence agencies regarding the breach of security by an explosive-laden truck used by terrorists for the attack on the Karani road.

He reiterated his resolve that the government would take all possible measures to identify the elements involved in this heinous attack and bring those responsible to book.

The prime minister has also spoken to Balochistan Governor Zulfiqar Magsi and Chief Secretary Babar Fateh Yaqoob and directed all the people concerned to arrest the culprits and bring them to justice.

APP adds: President Asif Ali Zardari directed Balochistan Governor Zulfiqar Magsi on Monday to take all necessary security measures for the Hazara community.

The president called the governor and asked him to personally monitor relief operations and provide all possible help to the affected people and their families.

The president asked the governor about the situation in the province and the steps taken by the provincial government to apprehend the culprits.
