MARDAN, Feb 28: The convocation of Abdul Wali Khan University Mardan was held at its main campus here on Thursday. Governor Shaukatullah Khan had authorised the AWKUM vice-chancellor, Prof Ihsan Ali, to preside over the proceedings, as he could not attend the convocation due to his busy schedule.

Speaking on the occasion, Prof Ali said that the university had been striving hard to impart quality education to the young generation of Mardan. He said that providing education to the youth was their duty, as only through education the country would be able to make progress and effectively meet the challenges.

Vice-chancellor of the University of Engineering and Technology Peshawar, Prof Imtiaz Hussain, on the occasion lauded the incumbent provincial government for establishing eight universities in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa during its five-year term.

In the end, Prof Ali gave away medals to students of 26 disciplines of the AWKUM. The students belonged to master and bachelor of science, arts, commerce, education, physical education, public health, business administration and public administration. —Correspondent
