Zubair’s hat trick helps Okara win

LAHORE, Jan 26: Five goals by Mohammad Zubair, including a hat trick, helped Okara crush Gujrat 8-0 in the Punjab Under-16 inter-district hockey championship at the National Hockey Stadium on Sunday.

Zubair struck in the 15th, 27th, 42nd minutes and added two more goals in the 47th and the 50th minutes. Shahzad Aslam (8th minute), Iftikhar (45th minute) and Tafreerul Hafeez (56th minute) one goal apiece.

A 59th minute goal by Raja Nadeem helped Mandi Bahauddin beat Gujranwala 2-1

Gujranwala took the lead through Ishtiaq Ahmad in the 17th minute. Mandi Bahauddin equalised through Mujahid Bashir in the 29th minute before Nadeem struck the winner.

Attock drew 1-1 with Sialkot. Sialkot took an early lead when Qaiser scored in the 3rd minute. Ammar Ishrat equalised in the 28th minute for Attock.

Two goals by Amjad Ali enabled Khanewal beat Kasur 2-1. Amjad scored the first goal in the 2nd minute. Ihsanullah made it 1-1 in the 26th minute. Amjad got the match-winner in the 56th minute.

Lahore defeated Multan 2-0. Lahore, who wasted all the 17 short corners, opened the score through Atif Baig in the 30th minute, while Shahzad Ali scored in the 47th minute.

Last year runners-up Toba Tek Singh outplayed Bahawalnagar 12-0.

Zeeshan Akram scored four goals (12th, 14th, 36th and 47th minutes). Inyatullah contributed three (7th, 32nd and  35th minutes), Mohsin Ali scored two (43rd and  52nd  minutes), while Nadeem Shahid (4th minute), Mohammad Usman (19th minute) and Mohammad Rizwan (44th minute) chipped in with one.

Four goals by Ghulam Sabir steered Sargodha to a 7-0 win over Rajanpur. Sabir scored in the 3rd, 8th, 16th and 38th  minutes. Aamir Saeed (7th minute), Usman (10th minute)  and Mohammad Akram (37th minute) added one goal each.

Three goals by Shafqat Rasool and two by Ali Muqqadas guided Vehari to a 7-0 win against Jhang.

Shafqat netted in the 24th, 39th and 58th minutes. Ali banged home in the 2nd and 28th minutes. Hafiz Ihtesham (12th minute) and Haroon Zaheer (18th minute) were the other scorers.

Hafizabad outclassed Chakwal 5-1. Mohammad Afzal (10th minute), Mohammad Azeem  (11th  minute), Mubashir Bashir (23rd  minute), Amjad Ali (42nd minute) and Rashid Mahmood (51st minute) were the scorers.

For Chakwal, Naeem Abbas scored the consolation goal in the 23rd minute.

Rahim Yar Khan were awarded walkover against Layyah who failed to turn up.
