THATTA, Jan 27: Occupants of over a dozen vehicles were robbed of cash and valuable items by four highwaymen on Thatta- Badin road, near the Damdamo check post, on Sunday night.
The highwaymen also tried to rob the adviser to the Sindh chief minister for forests and wildlife, Aijaz Ali Shah Shirazi, but spared him after identifying him.
Witnesses said that four robbers, after erecting barricades on the Sujawal Bridge, looted dozens of travellers of cash and valuable items, worth hundreds of thousands of rupees.
Meanwhile, the advisr, who was on his way to his native village, Saeedpur, arrived there.
The robbers tried to loot him but spared him after apparently identifying him and fled towards a nearby forest.
Later, Shirazi went to the Sujawal police station and apprised the police of the incident.
WOMAN KILLED: A 32-year-old housewife, Fatima Magsi, was axed to death on Sunday by her husband, Jumo Magsi, in Saleh Khoso village.
The motive behind the murder is said to be a domestic dispute.
The uncle of the deceased, Vikio Magsi, has lodged an FIR with the Jati police.
SELF-IMMOLATION: A man, Ghulam Mustafa, committed suicide on Saturday by setting himself ablaze in Ladhiawah village to vent his anger over delay in his marriage.
The man succumbed to his injuries while he was being rushed to Karachi.
