KOHAT, April 2: Unknown terrorists blew up a cellular phone company tower with explosives in Darsamand area of Hangu on Monday night.

Personnel of the bomb disposal squad said that three blasts occurred near the tower, adding two bombs weighed four kilograms each and one two kilogram. The tower is situated along the main Parachinar road in the Thall tehsil of Hangu.

PAPERS FILED: Four female candidates have filed nomination papers against 83 male opponents for one national and three provincial assembly seats from Kohat.

Khursheed Begum, a former MNA, filed papers to contest election on the NA-14 seat on the ticket of ANP, while Nazia Iqbal would try her luck on the same seat as independent candidate.

Musarat Shafi, also former MPA, would contest polls on PK-38 on ANP ticket, while Shagufta Iqbal would vie for KP-39 seat on PML-N ticket.

This is the first time that any woman has filed nomination papers for contesting the elections on general seats. However, two women were selected as MNA and MPA by the ANP from Kohat on reserved seats in 2008.

CLERK HELD: The KDA town police on Tuesday arrested the clerk of the divisional headquarters hospital with fake stamps of doctors.

The police raided the office of the clerk, Kifayatullah Khan, after receiving a complaint from a doctor, Isfandyar, and recovered more then half a dozen stamps of various doctors. The clerk had been misusing the stamps to sign bills and leave certificates.

The KDA police registered a case against the clerk and started further investigations.
