PESHAWAR, April 2: Former world squash champion Qamar Zaman Khan on Tuesday parted ways with Pakistan Tehrik-i-Insaf of Imran Khan and joined Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz.

Addressing a press conference at Peshawar Press Club on Tuesday, he said that Pakistan Tehrik-i-Insaf (PTI) failed to materialise its commitment about promoting honest people.

He said that he had attached great expectations with PTI but it disappointed him badly.

“PTI has been dominated by old faces that remained part of the government of former dictator Pervez Musharraf. Now people do not expect that change will be brought through PTI,” he said.

Flanked by PML-N provincial joint secretary Zubair Elahi and other activists, Mr Khan said that he didn’t join PTI to get a top position in its organisation or a ticket for contesting election. He added that he joined PTI to work under its banner for betterment of masses and fight against corruption in the country.

The former squash champion said that it would be difficult for PTI to bring any change in the country as corrupt elements dominated it. He said that therefore he decided to quit the party and join PML-N keeping in view its performance and achievements during its government in the past.

Mr Khan said that PML-N was the only political force that could steer the country out of the present crises. He claimed that PML-N had taken steps to make defence of the state stronger and completed several mega development projects during its rule. — Bureau Report
