KARACHI: Pakistan Peoples Party chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari on Wednesday met with party leaders in Naudero house during which he directed a review of party tickets in 64 constituencies of the National Assembly and provincial assemblies.

He told party leaders that those candidates who won in the 2002 and 2008 general elections may be given preference on the awarding of tickets for the 2013 polls.

Bilawal said he did not want to take any political risks in the coming general election.

He also asked party leaders to apprise the voters about their performance to ensure their participation.

Wednesday’s development follows Bilawal’s return to Karachi late on Monday night, a week after he had gone to Dubai over “security concerns”.

He had gone to Dubai amid reports of differences with Asif Ali Zardari and his aunt Faryal Talpur over the party’s stance on several important matters, including the awarding of PPP tickets to candidates for the May 11 election.

However, presidential spokesman Farhatullah Babar has again denied reports of any rifts between Bilawal and President Zardari.
