THATTA, April 9: The Shirazi group of Thatta, who left the Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid in October last year to join the Pakistan Peoples Party, announced on Tuesday that they would field independent candidates on all seven national assembly and provincial assembly seats of Thatta district.

Shafqat Shah Shirazi, the head of the Shirazi group, told a press conference that the decision was taken because the PPP was determined to field an “anti-people and anti-Sindh person” on PS-88 Ghorabari.

Awais Muzaffar Tappi, said to be foster brother of President Asif Ali Zardari, is the PPP candidate on the Ghorabari seat.
